Bafatá

Bafatá is a town with 34,760 inhabitants (as of 2010) in central Guinea -Bissau, at the same time the regional capital and seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Bafatá Bafatá, is one of the more than half of the country.

The city is situated on the east bank of the river Geba, which is so far navigable from its mouth at the state capital Bissau on about 145 kilometers. In the city empties, the left tributary Colufe. The Geba spans a bridge in the north of the city.

The most important industry is the manufacture of bricks. To the east of the city is an airport ( ICAO: GGBF ).

The city is surrounded by an area rich in flora, especially monkeys and macaques.

Batafá the birthplace of the national hero of the Revolutionary War was (see: History of Guinea- Bissau ) against the Portuguese Amilcar Cabral.
