Bafour

The Bafour or Bafur were the original inhabitants of Mauritania and are considered the ancestors of the Soninke farmers and fishermen of Imraguen. They were primarily sedentary farmers. At the time, as they inhabited the northern Mauritania, the Sahara was still fertile. Later they migrated southward from more fertile areas.
