Bafq (Persian بافق, Bafq DMG ) is a little oasis town in the central Iranian province of Yazd. The location on the southern edge of the Dasht -e Kavir has about 34,000 inhabitants, as calculated in 2012 and is located 120 km southeast of the city of Yazd.

Bafq is a major hub of the Iranian Railway, where the lines Mashhad - Tehran - Bandar Abbas and Kerman cross.

Traditionally, the place was a small oasis town, supplied with water from Qanaten and fountains which allow agriculture (wheat, barley, palm groves ). In addition Bafq is known for its weaving products.

The city developed into a center of iron ore and steel industry, since the late 19th century, 12 km north at Choghart large iron ore deposits were discovered, which are here collected and processed in the open pit.
