Bagnara di Romagna

Bagnara di Romagna is a municipality with 2410 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the Italian region Emilia -Romagna, Ravenna. It lies on the river Santerno.

The village was named after the marshes surrounding it originally only Bagnara and got the extra 1863 to distinguish it from Bagnara Calabra. 855 first mentioned in the original settlement was located a kilometer southeast of the present situation. The first Earl of Bagnara was 1129 Bennone, Bishop of Imola. On May 8, 1222 original settlement was in a battle between Bologna and Faenza and Imola on the one hand, to which Bagnara was destroyed. The survivors built the new settlement at a place where already was a house of prayer. After many changes of ownership and disputes between the Papal States and France, the city remained as of July 30, 1562 " indirectly " to the Holy See. After the Napoleonic interlude Bagnara came to the Italian unification back to the Papal States.

Bagnara di Romagna is since 2007 official twin town of Adelmannsfelden, Ostalb, Baden- Württemberg.
