Bagrat I of Iberia

Bagrat I ( c. 822, † 876 ) was 830-876 Kuropalates and from 842 Prince of Inner Kartli.

Life

Bagrat I was the middle son of Ashot I. Kuropalates. Due to his immaturity and his brothers, his principality was in a slump and could not play an active role in Georgian politics. When Muhammad ibn Khalid ibn Yazid 842 governor of Armenia was to Bagrat allied with them against the rebellious Emir of Tbilisi, Sahak and received the thanks Kartli awarded.

Sahak ( Ishak ) ibn Isma'il reigned about 830-853 as emir in Tbilisi and all Georgian princes had to pay the Kharadsch at him.
