Bahaa el-Din Ahmed Hussein El-Akkad

Bahaa el -Din Ahmed Hussein el- Akkad ( b. 1949 in Egypt) is the former head of a mosque community, which is converted in April 2005 to the Christian faith. For over 20 years El- Akkad was on a non-violent Islamic fundamentalist group that wants to convert non-Muslims to Islam. Following discussions with a Christian, a Bible study and prayer he found himself to the Christian faith.

On 6 April 2005 he was arrested on " suspicion of blasphemy against Islam ". Although his release was ordered by a court in Cairo on 30 July 2006, the secret police SSI ignored this decision and moved El- Akkad in September in the particular political Islamists, especially for high-security prison Wadi el- Natroun. He was released on 30 April 2007.
