Bahram III.

Bahram III. (also Vahram or Varahran ) was in the year 293 for four months King of the Sassanid Empire.

Bahram was raised by his father Bahram II to Sakan Shah, that the "King of the Sakas "; this happened after the conquest of Sakastan in the east. After the death of his father he succeeded him as King of Kings. However, a large number of nobles refused to follow him, saying instead Bahrams great uncle Narseh, who reigned in Armenia, their support. Presumably they trusted to this rather to lead the impending war with the Romans successfully. Narseh could prevail militarily in a short time and thus became the successor of Bahram, whose fate is unknown.
