Bahrenborstel
Bahrenborstel ( Low German: Boornbössel ) is a municipality in the district of Diepholz in Lower Saxony.
It belongs to the Samtgemeinde Kirchdorf, which has its administrative headquarters in the municipality of Kirchdorf.

Geography
Geographical Location
Bahrenborstel is between the nature park Dumber and the Natural Park Steinhude approximately midway between Bremen and Minden. Around 7 km south of the community lies the Great Moor, to the north connects the Darlatenmoor. A few kilometers northwest runs a section of the Great floodplain.

History
Bahrenborstel appears 1310 for the first time in documents as "up the Borne " located. Even in early times, the village belonged to the office lamp, coincided with this 1582 to Hesse, until he went back to Hanover in 1816.

On March 1, 1974, the municipality Holzhausen was incorporated.
Place name
Former place names of Bahrenborstel were around 1380 Bermeburstolte and Beringburstole up the Borne and in the years 1520 Bargen Borstel, Borstel 1528 and 1530 Baryenborstel mountain. In Bahrenbostel is a composite place names. Starting point is a basic form of Beringeborstel or Berne Inge Borstel. This is the word borstel, which is to - Bostel often and "municipal body" means. The element - ing is connected with a name such as Ber - or Bern. The entire name could be a settlement instead of the people or clan of Ber or Berne - in the name puts the bear - my.
