Bahr field is a district in the west of Hamburg. It belongs to the district of Altona. Incorporated in 1938 with very Altona to Hamburg, the district had about 26,000 inhabitants in 2008.

Bahr field is bordered to the west by Osdorf, on the southwest by United Flottbeck, to the south and Othmarschen Ottensen, on the southeast by Altona-Nord, to the east and to the north by Stellingen Eidelstedt Lurup.

History

Bahr field was first mentioned in 1256. The name, as well as the districts of Ottensen and Othmarschen, attributed to the knight Otto von stretchers, said to have lived in the 13th century in Ottensen and owned agricultural land in Bahr field. For centuries it was a small farming village on the road from Hamburg to Pinneberg and was most of the time to rule Holstein - Pinneberg. 1867 Bahr field became Prussian and in the same year connected to the newly opened Altona Blankeneser railroad. In the following years, first industrial enterprises settled; originated from 1910, when workers' settlements on the border with Ottensen.

Parks

The Altona public park closes north of the Bahrenfelder trotting. He is the city's largest public park (205 acres ) and extends to Lurup, Eidelstedt Stellingen zoom.

Named after George Bonne Bonnepark is a large traffic island between A 7, B 431 and Bahr Chaussee, but fulfilled precisely by an important function. In Bonnepark was the Bonnehaus. In Bahr field there are several large cemeteries. In addition to the Altona main cemetery at the public park that is the Jewish burial ground at Bornkampsweg, the Mennonite cemetery at Holstenkamp and the Protestant cemeteries on Holstenkamp, on Bornkamp and on Diebsteich. All of these are tangible remnant of religious freedom in Altona history.

The grounds of the Lise Meitner park at DESY (it also comes: Desy Meadows ) was designed from ground which had been incurred in the construction of the Hamburg Elbe Tunnel.

The Otto von Bahr park even includes a park, but it refers to a real estate property, which includes a Grade II listed buildings of the former gas works.

Other buildings

The dahlia garden is one of the few tourist attractions Bahr field. Each year, more than a quarter of a million people traveled in this free admission garden. It is part of the Altona public parks and is located on the corner Luruper Road / Stadium Road. The dahlia garden was inaugurated in 1920.
