Baiba Skride

Baiba Skride ( born February 19, 1981 in Riga) is a Latvian violinist.

Life

Baiba Skride comes from a very musical family: Your love of music comes from the grandmother who taught her and her two sisters singing. Her father is a choral conductor, her mother plays the piano. Their one years younger sister Lauma Skride plays the piano, her two-year older sister Linda plays the viola. As Baiba was three years old, gave the trio its first concert. In Latvia they first attended a music school, then a special school for music talents in Riga. Since 1995, Baiba Skride studied at the Academy of Music and Theatre in Rostock with Petru Munteanu. They hovered for a long time between the special school in Riga and the University of Rostock. Today she lives in Hamburg. She has master classes with Ruggiero Ricci and Lewis Kaplan.

Chamber Music

Baiba Skride occurs along with her sister Lauma Skride as a chamber music duo in the world on: in the concert season 2006/2007 as in San Francisco, Vancouver, London, Madrid, Bologna, Dortmund and Hanover.

Recently, the sisters also occur with cellist Sol Gabetta on as a trio. Other chamber music partners are Renaud Capuçon, Gidon Kremer, Isabelle van Keulen, David Geringas, Emmanuel Pahud and Sharon Kam.

Baiba Skride since 2001, the Violin " Wilhelmj " by Antonio Stradivari in 1725, which is her loan from the Nippon Music Foundation and 2 million euro 's worth.
