Baikida Carroll

Baikida Carroll ( born January 15, 1947 in St. Louis, Missouri) is an American jazz trumpeter and composer.

Carroll played in the 1970s a role in the Black Artists Group in St. Louis and worked at this time with Muhal Richard Abrams, Oliver Lake, Julius Hemphill and other musicians of this community and took some plates under his own name. In the 1990s he worked with Sam Rivers, Pheeroan akLaff, Hemphill, in 2004, he starred in John Lindberg Quartet on the album Winter Birds with.

Carroll wrote in addition to performing as a jazz trumpeter numerous film and theater music, and was among other things, Albert King, Jay McShann, Amiri Baraka, Patti LaBelle, Little Milton, Charlie Haden and Dr. John, and on the stage.

Baikida Carroll is the son of the saxophonist Jimmy Harris.
