Baikushev's pine

Bajkuschewa Mura ( Bulgarian Байкушева мура ) is the name of an over 1300 year old tree which is in the Pirin Mountains in Bulgaria.

It is a tank or snakeskin Pine ( Pinus heldreichii ), after the forest supervisor Konstadin Bajkuschew ( Bulg Костадин Байкушев ) is named, the 1897 has discovered this specimen. Mura referred Bulgarian two pine species: Byala Mura ( Bulg Бяла мура; literally " white Mura ") for the Ponderosa Pine ( Pinus peuce ) and Tscherna Mura ( Bulg Черна мура; literally " black Mura ") for the snake skin pine ( Pinus heldreichii ). The snakeskin pine is widespread among other things, in southwestern Bulgaria.

The Bajkuschewa Mura is at 1930 meters altitude, in the northern Pirin Mountains, in the Pirin National Park, 500 m southwest of the mountain hut Banderitsa ( Bulg хижа Бъндерица ), on the road from Bansko to the mountain hut Vihren ( Bulg хижа Вихрен ), from where the climb to the Vihren summit begins.

The age of this copy is estimated to be over 1300 years, making it the oldest coniferous tree in Bulgaria and one of the oldest in the world.
