Bajram Curr [ bai̯ɾam Tsur ] (Albanian Bajram Curri also ) is a small town with 5340 inhabitants ( 2011) in north-eastern Albania, near the border with Kosovo and Montenegro.

Geography

The city is isolated on the slopes of the valley of Valbona in the middle of the North Albanian Alps to around 360 m. The region was previously available only on bad roads to reach - most comfortable was the arrival of the daily ferry service on the Koman Reservoir, which ends in Fierza, around 15 km away. Since May 2006, the road is renewed after Gjakova. From her one expects a growth of the economy in this region.

Bajram Curr is the capital of the circle Tropoja. As a regional center, the town has numerous shops, a market, several hotels and a hospital.

Name

Originally called the place Kolgeçaj. 1952, when the regional administration was moved from place Tropoja here, it got its present name in honor of the Albanian Bajram Curri freedom fighter.
