Baker River (Chile)

Río Baker 2005

The Río Baker is a river in the Aysen Region in Chilean Patagonia. It is Chile's river with the highest water flow.

Río Baker is formed from the outflow of Lake Bertrand, who in turn is fed via a short connecting piece (La Pasarela called ) from the outflow of Lake General Carrera.

The river runs south-east of the Northern Patagonian Ice Field and flows near the village of Caleta Tortel in the Gulf of Penas, a bay of the Pacific.

There are plans of the electricity company ENDESA (Chile) to build a hydroelectric power plant with 2,400 MW in the Rio Baker.
