Bakhtiari Dam

The Bakhtiari Dam is ( a tributary of Nov) in Iran are built on the Bakhtiari River. With a planned height of 315 m would result in the highest dam of the earth, when the project would be executed. The site is located in the Zagros Mountains in Lorestan province in the southwest of Iran, 50 km upstream from the Dec- dam.

The planned hydropower plant will have a generating capacity of 1500 MW and generate 3,000 GWh of electricity per year. Further benefits are to bring the flood control, irrigation and water supply. Also, the amount of sediment in the Dec- dam to be reduced.

The shut-off is to get a double-curved arch dam. The reservoir will be 4,800 million cubic contents of the second largest of Iran, after the Karkheh reservoir.
