Bako National Park

The Bako National Park ( Taman Negara Bako Malaysian ) extends to a 27 -acre peninsula on the South China Sea north of Kuching in the Malaysian state of Sarawak on the island of Borneo.

The smallest and oldest - 1957 scale - National Park in Sarawak is its proximity (about 37 miles) to Kuching a popular tourist destination. On 16 different length paths, visitors can hike through the diverse flora and fauna.

Some hiking paths end at secluded sandy coves.

Five different vegetation zones offer the visitor:

  • Grasses and bushes
  • Mangrove forest
  • Swamp forest
  • Lowland jungle
  • Plateau forests

Importantly, the National Park because of its biodiversity. One can observe long-tailed macaques, mouse deer, gibbons, Bartsch wines, honey bears wild cats, proboscis monkeys and monitor lizards.
