Bako Sahakyan

Bako Sahakjan ( born August 30, 1960 in Stepanakert, Armenian Բակո Սահակյան ) is an Armenian politician in the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh. It is the successor of Arkadi Ghukassjan as President of the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh.

Bako Sahakjan worked after his military service in the Soviet army, first in a factory in Stepanakert. In 1999 he resigned as interior minister in politics. In the presidential elections in the internationally unrecognized Republic of Nagorno Karabakh, he reached more than 80 % of the vote. Sahakjan said after his election that he would lead to full independence of Nagorno-Karabakh in Azerbaijan.

Bako Sahakjan is married and has two children.
