Baksa (Croatian Bokšica ) is a municipality in Hungary, Baranya ( German: Baranya ).

Location

The municipality is located in Mittelbranau, 20 km southwest of Pécs.

History

The first literary works ( 1247 ) the name of the community as Boxa, Baxa was written. He comes from the Old Slavic name Bokscha, Bogscha. Under the Turkish domination the village preserved its population, unlike Cyclist, part these days to Baksa. In the 20th century was the " Ezüstkalász " Production Association is the largest employer in the area, it was closed in 1993. In the early 1990s the St Martin's Chapel was built.
