The Balboa Fun Zone is an amusement park in Newport Beach in the U.S. state of California. Situated at the port facility is located on the Balboa Peninsula. In direct vicinity of the historic Balboa Pavilion.

History

The Balboa Fun Zone was established in 1936 by Al Anderson. The plant was located on a leased piece of land that Anderson bought in 1948 by the owner. The big Ferris Wheel of 1918 quickly became a symbol of the city.

From 1972 to 1985, the amusement park was closed due to legal problems. Only a year later he was re-opened thanks to the initiative of Jordan Wank. 1994 bought the former employee Joe Tunstall and Bob Speth the plant.

The Balboa Fun Zone was acquired from the adjacent Newport Harbor Nautical Museum, 2005. Some of the rides was then dismantled to make room for the expansion of the museum. The old Ferris wheel is one of the last remaining attractions today. At night it is very colorfully lit and therefore a popular photo.
