Balders Hage

Balder Hage is a former sports ground in Gothenburg. Today, the square is part of the area of the amusement park Liseberg.

History

1887 started Wilhelm Friberg and Walfrid Silow, the short time were later involved in the establishment of Örgryte IS, an initiative to plant a skating rink, which was based on the sports field Balder Hage later. On New Year's Day 1888 it was inaugurated.

By 1908 ÖIS used, at that time the most important football team in Sweden, Balder Hage as venues of football matches. Built in 1908, the club for 40,000 crowns Valhalla idrottsplats, a stadium with 8,000 seats, and carried by the opening on September 6, there its home games.

Balder Hage was on July 12, 1908 hosted the first international match of the Swedish national football team. 3,000 spectators Norway was defeated with 11:3.
