Baldwin de Redvers, 6th Earl of Devon

Baldwin de Redvers, 6th Earl of Devon (* 1216/1217, † February 15, 1245 ) was an English nobleman in the 13th century. He was a son of Baldwin de Redvers and Margaret FitzGerold.

Redvers father died during the period of his birth and died shortly afterwards also the grandfather of William de Redvers, 5th Earl of Devon, which he thus succeeded even as a small child as Earl of Devon and Lord of the Isle of Wight. His mother married on the mercenary leader Falkes de Breauté. On December 25, 1239, he was officially invested in Winchester Earl of Devon.

In the years 1239-1240 to Redvers involved on the side of Richard of Cornwall in the crusade of the barons in the Holy Land. After his death he was buried in the Breamore Priory in Hampshire.

Baldwin de Redvers was since 1226 married Amice de Clare († 1284), a daughter of Gilbert de Clare, 4th Earl of Hertford and 1st Earl of Gloucester. From this marriage two children were born:

  • Baldwin de Redvers (* January 1, 1236, † 1262 in Paris), 7th Earl of Devon and Lord of the Isle of Wight
  • Isabel de Redvers (* 1237, † November 10, 1293 ), 8th Countess of Devon and Lady of the Isle of Wight ∞ 1248 with William de Forz, 4th Earl of Albemale († 1260 )
