Balen is a Belgian municipality located in the Flemish region with 21,570 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2012). It consists of the main town and the smaller district Olmen.

Turnhout located 22 kilometers north-west, Antwerp 52 km west of Brussels and about 65 kilometers south-west.
