Balgau
Balgau (Alsatian " Balgäu " ) is a commune with 934 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Haut-Rhin in the Alsace region. It belongs to the community association Pays de Brisach.
History
For documents show that the settlement in the year 896 belonged to an abbey. The name Balgau goes back to a noble family in the 14th and 15th centuries. The village was not spared from the effects of the Thirty Years' War.

The Saint-Nicolas Church (St. Nicholas) was built in 1861. In 1874 it received a Rinckenbach organ, now eldest of the brothers Martin and Joseph Rinckenbach.
