Geographical location

The Bali road, Indonesian Selat Bali is a 2.4 km wide strait between the Indonesian islands of Bali and Java.

A ferry connects the two islands between Banyuwangi ( Ketapang Harbour ) on Java and Bali Gilimanuk. The northern coast of Bali is part of the Bali Barat National Park (established 1995).

Since the early 1990s, studies are underway on the construction of a bridge across the Bali Strait, similar to the proposed bridge across the Sunda Straits. The planned Bali - Java powerline to connect the two islands electrically.
