Balisor

Balisor is a marker light for high -voltage power lines (that serves the aviation safety lighting), which was patented in 1989. This special form of air traffic control is used in France, for example in the regions around Macon in Burgundy.

It consists of a gas discharge lamp, one pole of which is attached electrically to the AC high-voltage conductor cable. The other pole of the lamp being connected to a conductor on the rope isolated suspended wires, in which, by decreasing the electric potential of a relatively low voltage is formed, which feeds the lamp. The advantage of the Balisors is that the lamp is no separate power supply is needed. The disadvantage is that the lamp is lit only when the high voltage and the line must be operated with AC voltage.

In contrast, an application in radiating transmitting masts and antennas at the cost of transmission power would be realizable.

In Germany the Balisor system is not applied.
