Ballaios

Ballaios or Ballai ruled as Illyrian king middle of the 2nd century BC (c. 168 BC) in Rhizon.

He is mainly known from coinage until now missing literary and historical sources about him. He minted its own silver coins, but these are rare. His bronze coins come (without the royal title) in Hvar before, both as a single as well as hoards. In Rhizon there is another series of bronze coins of Ballaios with royal title, while known by the city itself only bronze coins. In the region are also counterfeits of these coins, which are often difficult to distinguish widespread.
