Ballater

Ballater is a place in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, approximately 85 kilometers west of Aberdeen in the Scottish Highlands. It lies on the River Dee at the western foot of the Cairngorm Mountains at an altitude of 123 m. Ballater recorded 2001 1446 inhabitants in the year.

Attractions

The disused since 1966 Station of Ballater is now a museum, which includes, among other things, the waiting room of Queen Victoria, who used the station Ballater on the journey in her castle Balmoral Castle.

Balmoral Castle, which is still inhabited in summer by the Royal Family, located about 14 km west and gives the region the name " Royal Deeside ". 2 km south of Ballater is Birkhall, a property which is temporarily inhabited by Prince Charles.
