Farsan ( Swedish, slang for " father " ) is a Swedish film comedy from director Josef Fares from the year 2010. It deals with the themes of love, friendship and family, and on 12 February 2010 in Sweden premiere.

Action

In the center of the story is Aziz ( Farsan ), an elderly man of Lebanese origin. He is a widower and father of the bank employees Sami. Aziz himself works in the bicycle business, " Jorgen Cykel " his friend Jörgen with. In addition, there are Juan and Edith, Jorgen's mother busy. The film deals with four main problem situations:

Sami lives with his wife Amanda. The fertility of the two is the problem in the way that the couple can not have own children. As Aziz but yearns for own grandchildren, Sami and Amanda conceal this obstacle, plan an early adoption and deceive using pillows Amanda's pregnancy before. When Amanda is turned down with respect to the actually planned adoption of an indigenous child, the couple decides on the basis of the lower waiting times at short notice for the adoption of a child from China, although of course no longer be compatible with the simulated pregnancy. Therefore, Sami and Amanda Aziz confront a little later with the truth.

Sami is of the opinion that Aziz's focus on the desire for grandchildren with its loneliness related since the death of his beloved wife. Therefore, he advises his father, back to looking for a life partner. After a failed Verkupplungsversuch with a colleague of Amanda and some unsuccessful encounters with other women, Aziz throws increasingly an eye on Edith. Aziz calls Jörgen on to arrange a meeting with Edith. In fact, Aziz and Edith get to know, Aziz sees Edith's friendly affection, but wrong and announced shortly thereafter to Sami and Amanda over his speedy wedding. As Aziz Edith makes a marriage proposal and a meal, the friendship between the two seems to break.

Aziz is Jorgen's relationship with his wife Lotta in question, claiming Jörgen was not manly enough to be his role as a husband needs. Jörgen presents itself then, Lotta could have an affair with a muscular neighbors and developed complexes. The everyday lives of the two is becoming increasingly tense. Aziz Jörgen finally offers to teach him manhood, and expects it in return help on closer acquaintance of Edith. However, when Jorgen tried to apply Aziz ' lessons Lotta opposite and presents itself in an exaggerated manner as a macho, it comes to a head.

Juan fears for his beloved but decrepit dog Dino, who suffers from osteoarthritis. A vet recommends to euthanize the animal, while Juan defends strong and instead in the bicycle business is building a trolley for Dino. Aziz also brings him to the idea that Dino should get the opportunity before his death to procreate. Despite several attempts, however, this plan can not be realized and Juan finally opts for yet Dinos euthanasia.

Toward the end, the individual strands are resolved: Juan plans to buy a parrot. Jörgen speaks out with Lotta and understands that strong masculinity is not expected of him. Aziz can save the friendship with Edith sensitive manner. Moreover, he finally accepted the adoptees, Chinese grandchild, whom he met shortly after its adoption in the last scene of the film for the first time.

Reactions in Sweden

  • After the opening weekend Farsan debuted at # 1 on the Swedish box office. Between the 12th and including February 14, 2010 saw 84 284 admissions in Sweden the film.
  • Åsa Johansson from the Dalarna Tidningar (newspapers Dalarna ) is called the risk to want to put too much stock in a single movie, but describes the film as touching.
  • Karolina Fjellborg from Aftonbladet ( a Swedish evening paper ), while considering, Farsan is not necessarily the best of Josef Fares ' movies, but emphasizes that one can laugh at the comedy, which she describes as warm and loving, loud.
