Ballwil

Ballwil Swiss German, Baubu [ bɑʊbʊ ], is a municipality in the constituency high village of the canton of Lucerne in Switzerland.

Geography

The municipality is located on the western slope of the Lindenberg, Reusstal inclined, and forms the entrance to Lucerne Valley. The municipality belongs to the village, numerous hamlets, groups of houses and farmsteads. The largest districts after the village (with different districts ) are Gibelflüh ( 499 m asl; .. 2.5 km east of the village ), Gerligen (476 m asl; .. 1.1 km to the southeast ), forest ( 475 m asl, .. 2.5 km to the southeast ), and knowledge due to (2.1 km to the east ). In the community there is little forest cover ( Gerligenwald, Fäjerenwald, Gorgenwald and parts of Eibeler and the Hiltigwalds ). The Hiltigbach (which means in Ballwil Gerligenbach ), which flows through from Oberebersol ( High Rain) Coming Ballwil, empties in St. Kathrinen ( Inwil ) into the river. The Hiltigbach takes on his ( short ) run some side streams on ( ball on the ground Wiler moss creek ). When Quartier Sagi is a small pond. Population

In the second half of the 19th century, the population decreased due to massive emigration ( 1850 to 1888: -23.3 %). Since then, it increases continuously. Between 1888 and 1970, the growth was steady but low ( from 1888 to 1970: 557 persons or 72.3 %). Since then, a persistent and strong growth has begun (1970-2010: 1 197 persons or 90.2 %). This is not least due to the proximity to the cities of Lucerne and train.

Languages

The population speaks as an everyday language a highly Alemannic dialect. At the last census in 2000 gave 95.64 % German, 1.04 % Albanian and Serbo-Croatian at 0.90% as the main language.

Religions

Previously, all the inhabitants were members of the Roman Catholic Church. By leaving the church and immigration from other regions in Switzerland and abroad, this has changed. Today ( as of 2000) are: 81.96 % Roman Catholic, 7.72% Evangelical Protestant, Orthodox 1.18% and 1.14 % Free Church Christians. In addition, there are 4.55% and 0.57 % non-religious Muslims.

Origin and nationality

The end of 2010 the community numbered 2524 inhabitants. Of these, 2381 Swiss nationals and 143 ( = 5.67% ) other nationalities. At the last census, 92.90 % were (including dual citizens 94.27 % ) Swiss nationals. The largest immigrant groups come from Serbia and Montenegro ( Albanians from Kosovo and Serbs ), Italy, Germany and Bosnia- Herzegovina.

Traffic

With the Seetalbahn as the railway line Luzern- Lenzburg is popularly called, Ballwil is easily accessible via public transport by the. History

As discoveries at Homestead Höchweid ( southeast of the village, remains of a Roman settlement ) and 1978 at Homestead Bälletz; prove (northeast of Eschenbach Roman brick), parts of the community were already settled early. Germanic names give an indication of Alemannic colonization. For the first time under the present name, in the form Paldiwilare, the place in the year 893 is mentioned among the possessions of the Abbey of Zurich Bahnhofstrasse. In 1210, a noble service man named Hartmann of Ballwil ( Baldewile ) is called. This generation built a castle and was as local administrators first worked for the Counts of Kyburg and after their extinction for the Habsburgs. A Bruno Ballwil came in 1315 at the Battle of Morgarten on the Austrian side killed. The family died out in 1381. Portions of the township were part of the Habsburg Office Richensee - Other for also Habsburg Office Rothenburg. Between 1385 and 1413 all districts came under the rule of the city of Luzern - and the bailiwick of Rothenburg was connected until 1798. Then they belonged until 1803 to the district high village. The Wasserversorgungsgenossenschaft Ballwil relates water from the groundwater flow, which flows through the valley in a northerly direction. The pumping station is west of the main road near the water Gass, the Gruet in the reservoir, above Ottenhusen.
