Ballymena ( in Irish: An Baile Meánach, "middle city ") is a town in County Antrim, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom, and the administrative seat of the district Ballymena. The city has 28 717 inhabitants ( 2001), of which 24.2 % are Catholics and 72.2 % Protestant.
