Balow

The municipality is part of the Office Balow Grabow in the district of Ludwigsburg pleasure Parchim in Mecklenburg -Vorpommern ( Germany ).

Geography

Balow borders the municipalities Möllenbeck Zierzow, Prislich, Karstädt and Dambeck and is located in the sparsely populated southern area of the county Ludwigslust - Parchim at the border to Brandenburg. West of the village held Tarnitz, east Löcknitz. The Federal Highway 24 is within 13 kilometers above the junction Parchim. The nearest railway station on the route Hamburg - Berlin is located in Grabow.

History

Originally created as a Slavic bag accommodation village location found in 1341 its first documentary mention in a letter about the purchase of grain. Since the 13th century Balow was an estate village. 1736 a fire destroyed the village church, which was rebuilt in 1774. Even after the Second World War, the community was dominated by agriculture, collectivization in the 1950s led to the formation of large agricultural holdings with a total effective area of ​​1006 hectares.
