Balsorano

Balsorano ( in the local dialect: Balz'rana ) is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 3617 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of L' Aquila in the Abruzzo region. The municipality is situated approximately 62.5 kilometers south-southeast of L' Aquila on Liri and is part of the Comunità montana Valle Roveto. Balsorano is immediately adjacent to the province of Frosinone.

History

The origin of the community lies in the foundation of the main town in the 10th century. The actual church was not created until 1809. 1915, the church was severely damaged by an earthquake. Affected with the Castello Piccolomini was pulled from the 15th century.

Traffic

Through the community, the Strada Statale 690 Avezzano - Sora runs from north Avezzano after Sora. Located in the capital and in the district Ridotti - Collepiano stations are located on the railway line Avezzano after Roccasecca.
