Balthasar Linsinger

Balthasar Linsinger (* 1902 in St. Veit im Pongau, † 19 October 1986 Tamsweg) was an Austrian priest.

Linsinger was pastor in Großarl and offered the Jewish family to Bäumer from the city of Salzburg, to arrive at a risk to Großarl. 1944 was imminent as a deportation, the family went into hiding in Großarl at Linsinger. Linsinger gave the family as a family, which lost their home in Vienna because of the bombing. Since no denunciation happened, the family survived the period of National Socialism. For the first time the story of Balthasar Linsinger and his rescue of the family of Helene Bäumer Maimann was in her TV movie " The stars do not go out " documents.

On 13 April 2011 Linsinger was included in the list of Righteous Among the Nations. The ceremony took place at the instigation of journalist living in Vienna Angelica Bäumer. This was one of three children of the Jewish painter Eduard Bäumer, the Linsinger had entered together with his wife and three children ages then three, nine and twelve years in the rectory.

Linsinger was ordained priest in 1925. Stages of his priestly life as a pastor were Weissbach bei Lofer (1937-1943), Großarl (1943-1954) and from 1954 until his retirement in St. Michael im Lungau.
