Bamar people
The Bamar ( Burmese :; different names: Burmese, Burmans, Bama, Bamachaka, Myamma / Myanma, Myen, not to be confused with Mien / Yao ) are about 30 million people, the largest ethnic group in Myanmar ( Burma), where 69 % of the population. They are mainly Buddhist. Their language belongs to the Tibeto - Burmese languages.
Often the term Burmese ( Burmese English ) is used, which can be misleading, however, since it actually refers to all residents of the State of Myanmar, including non- Bamar - minorities such as Karen, Shan and Kachin.
