Ban Phai District

Amphoe Ban Phai ( Thai: อำเภอ บ้านไผ่ ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the province of Khon Kaen. The Khon Kaen Province is located in the northeast region of Thailand, Isan.

Geography

Neighboring districts are (from the south clockwise): Amphoe the Pueai Noi, Nong Song Hong, Non Sila, Chonnabot, Mancha Khiri and Ban Haet in the province of Khon Kaen, and Amphoe Kut Kosum Phisai and rank Maha Sarakham Province.

History

The area of present-day district of Ban Phai was originally called Ban Keng ( บ้าน เกิ้ง ) and was a tambon of Amphoe Chonnabot. Ban Phai was established in 1928 initially as a sub-district ( King Amphoe ) was established, consisting of three tambon, which were separated from Amphoe Chonnabot. On February 1, 1940 Ban Phai then got the full Amphoe status. In 1946 Chonnabot has been downgraded and the Amphoe Ban Phai subordinate. It was not until 1966 Chonnabots was restored status.

Administrative units

Amphoe Ban Phai is ( tambon) divided into ten municipalities, which are divided in turn into 48 villages ( Muban ).

There is a city ( Mueang thesaban ) in the district:

  • Ban Phai ( Thai: เทศบาล เมือง บ้านไผ่ ), consisting of parts of the tambon Ban Phai, and Nai Mueang Nuea khaen.

There is also a small town ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • Nai Mueang ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ใน เมือง ), consisting also of parts of Tambon Mueang.

There are also nine administrative organizations ( " Tambon Administrative Organizations" - TAO, Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ).

Note: The missing geocodes are among the tambon which now belong to Ban Haet and Non Sila.
