Banana Republic

Banana Republic is a fashion company that belongs to the company GAP Inc.. The company was active until 2008, only in the U.S., Canada and Asia. The brand was founded in 1978 by Mel and Patricia Ziegler, the first store was opened in 1978 in Mill Valley / California. Banana Republic was taken over in 1983 by Gap.

In the U.S., about 500 shops have been opened since that time, the first store outside of North America was opened in 2005 in Tokyo. The first European store opened in Istanbul on March 15, 2008.
