Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria ( BBVA ) is a banking institution and a company in financial services with a more than 150 -year history. History

The first bank of the group, the Banco de Bilbao, was founded in 1857 with support from the Junta de Comercio de Bilbao. The Bank worked as a private central bank and gave to 1874 banknotes.

In 1988 it merged with Banco de Vizcaya, which was founded in 1901 to Banco Bilbao Vizcaya ( BBV ). The BBV merged with Argentaria in 1999 for his part ( Corporación Bancaria de España).
