Banfe (Lahn)

The Banfe, in the upper reaches Fischelbach, is a 11.8 km, over her left frontal flow Sohler Bach 16.2 km long right tributary of the Lahn in the district of Siegen -Wittgenstein, North Rhine -Westphalia.

The Banfe is beside Dill, Dietzhölze and Treisbach is the main tributary of the Lahn, which drains the Rothaargebirge. Here is the Banfe the only of the rivers mentioned, which runs entirely in the mountains and ends there.

Course

The source of Banfe is located in the south of the district of Bad Laasphe and Wittgenstein mountain country in southeastern Rothaargebirge, immediately southeast Fischel Bach. From there it flows in the form of an open to the southeast semicircle clockwise in first northwestern eastern to the muzzle directions. In the north of Hessel Hessel Bach brook flows into the Fischelbach; from this point on is the flow Banfe.

Then it passes the districts Banfe, Herbertshausen and Laaspherhütte until it finally empties into the Lahn in the southwest of the core city of Bad Laasphes.

In Fischelbach the Banfe flows from the left or from the Ederkopf -Lahn head back their swelling Creek Sohler Bach, through which the stream is significantly longer than its actual source flow.
