Banff Mountain Film Festival

The Banff Mountain Film Festival is a film festival for outdoor and adventure films all over the world, which takes place every autumn in the Canadian community Banff / Alberta.

The Festival

Since 1976, the Mountain Community celebrates here the week of Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival, which appear around 12,000 visitors annually. From 1000 film submissions from around the world the works of the most talented filmmakers will be awarded in Banff. The productions submitted coming from 39 different countries and are produced both of sports-loving students, as well as professional teams such as the BBC or National Geographic. In seven categories, the prices of the international jury awarded " Grand Prize ", " climbing", " Mountain Sports ", " Mountain Environment", "Mountain Culture", "Short Mountain Film " and " Feature -Length Mountain Film ". The viewers of the film festival ultimately decide the winner of the category " People's Choice Award".

The festival is a founding member of the International Alliance for Mountain Film.

The world tour

Since 1986, the movies go directly after the festival on a world tour. As part of the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour, the winning films will be screened in around 25 countries on six continents and reach a total of more than 170,000 viewers worldwide.
