Banfield, Buenos Aires

Banfield is a town in the district of Lomas de Zamora in the province of Buenos Aires in Argentina. Banfield is located about 14 km south of Buenos Aires, has 223 898 inhabitants and a population density of 7,851 inhabitants per km ² (as of 2001).

Banfield was using a station that was built there in 1873, settled in the 1880s. This bears her name in memory of the British railway entrepreneur Edward Banfield.

The football club Banfield founded in 1896, plays in the Argentine league. In Banfield is also home to the Julián Aguirre Conservatory, founded in 1951 by the composer and conductor Alberto Ginastera.
