Banfora

Banfora is an important urban administrative center in the West African state of Burkina Faso. The city is the principal municipality of the department of the same name and also the capital of the province Comoé and the Cascades region. It lies in the southwest of the country at the Chaîne de Banfora. In the comprehensive 15 sectors city 63,300 inhabitants ( census 2007) and in the department of Banfora, in which there are still 22 villages, 109 824 inhabitants ( 2006 census ).

Banfora is located on the railway line from Ouagadougou to Abidjan. Around Banfora are huge sugar cane plantations, the center of the Burkinabe sugar industry. In addition, in Banfora herbal medicines and essential oils are produced.

From Banfora from the natural attractions of the area can be visited, such as Cascades de Banfora ( = C. de Kerfiguéla ) Domes de Fabédougou, Téngrélasee and Pics de Sindou.

Banfora Banfora is the seat of the diocese.
