History

Originally the territory of today's Bang Khae was a tambon of the district ( Amphoe ) in the province Phasi Charoen Thonburi.

In 1972, the provinces of Phra Nakhon and Thonburi to " Krung Thep Maha Nakhon " were merged, thereby Bang Khae, a subdistrict of Phasi Charoen. The administrative units of the new capital were retained, only the " Amphoe " have been renamed to Khet, the Tambon to Kwaeng.

As Phasi Charoen later increased in population, a new circle, " Phasi Charoen Sakha 1" was set up, which consisted at the time of the sub- districts of Bang Khae, Bang Khae Nuea and Bang Phai.

On 18 November 1997, the county " Phasi Charoen Sakha 1" was awarded the subdistrict Lak Song, who was part of the circle Nong Khaem, merged into a new circle with the name Bang Khae. On 6 March 1998, the administrative units of Bang Khae were reorganized: the boundaries of the districts, however, remained preserved.
