Bang Kho Laem District

Bang Kho Laem ( Thai: บางคอแหลม, bā ː ŋ k ʰ ɔ̄ ː ː lɛ̌ m) is one of the 50 districts (Khet ) of Bangkok, capital of Thailand. Bang Kho Laem is a southern city district on the east bank of the Chao Phraya River.

Geography

Bang Kho Laem is bounded on the north by the Khlong Kruai, from the Phai Ngoen Soi Wat Phai Road and Ngoen, in the east of the Sathu Pradit Road and Mahanakhon Expressway, to the south and west by a loop of the Chao Phraya River.

The neighboring districts are from clockwise from the north: Sathon, Yan Nawa and on the other bank of the Chao Phraya River, Rat Burana, Thon Buri and Khlong San

History

Bang Kho Laem was originally part of the district ( Amphoe ) Ban Thawai Province Phra Pradaeng. Later Ban Thawai the province of Phra Nakhon was subordinated and renamed Yan Nawa. In 1972, the provinces of Phra Nakhon and Thonburi to " Krung Thep Maha Nakhon " were merged, thereby Bang Khae, a subdistrict of Phasi Charoen. The administrative units of the new capital were retained, only the " Amphoe " have been renamed to Khet, the Tambon to Kwaeng, it was from the Amphoe Yan Nawa ( อำเภอ ยานนาวา ) of Khet Yan Nawa ( เขต ยานนาวา ).

A branch office of Yan Nawa district offices was built on April 18, 1989, to monitor the three subdistricts Bang Kho Laem Wat Phraya Krai and Bang Khlo. On 9 November 1989, this branch office became an independent district with the name Bang Kho Laem.

Attractions

  • The Krungthep Bridge (English: " Bangkok Bridge" ) was opened on 25 June 1959 as the second bridge over the Chao Phraya River.
