Bang Pa-in District

Amphoe Bang Pa In ( Thai: อำเภอ บางปะอิน ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) of Ayutthaya province in the central region of Thailand. Bang Pa In is also the capital of the district, where the royal summer palace lies with the same name.

Geography

The district capital is located about 50 kilometers north of Bangkok on the Chao Phraya River ( Chao Phraya River ).

Neighboring districts are (from north clockwise): Amphoe Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, the, Uthai and Wang Noi in Ayutthaya province, Amphoe Khlong Luang Pathum Thani Province and Amphoe Bang Sai in Ayutthaya again.

History

Bang Pa-In has already been established in the Kingdom of Ayutthaya. It was first called Khwaeng U Thai. In the Rattanakosin era of Thai Khwaeng U was divided into Khwaeng U and U Thai Noi Thai Yai. In 1910 Khwaeng U Thai Noi was renamed Phra Ratchawang and received the status of Amphoe. Later in 1915 the district was renamed again in Bang Pa-In on the eponymous island Bang Pa- in in the Chao Phraya River.

Management

Amphoe Bang Pa In is composed of 18 sub-districts ( tambon), which further into 149 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

There are several small towns ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • Ban Pa In ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล บางปะอิน ) consists of parts of tambon Ban Len,
  • Ban Sang ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล บ้าน สร้าง ) consists of the whole tambon Ban Sang,
  • Phra Intharatcha ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล พระ อินทรา ชา ) consists of parts of the Tambon Chiang Rak Noi,
  • Prasat Thong ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ปราสาท ทอง ) consists of parts of tambon Ban Len,
  • Khlong Chik ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล คลอง จิก ) consists of the whole Tambon Khlong Chik,
  • Chiang Rak Noi ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล เชียง ราก น้อย ) consists of parts of the Tambon Chiang Rak Noi,
  • Bang Krasan ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล บาง กระ สั้น ) consists of the whole tambon Bang Krasan,
  • Ban Krot ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล บ้าน กรด ) consists of the whole tambon Ban Krot,
  • Talat Kriap ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ตลาด เกรียบ ) consists of the whole tambon Talat Kriap.

There are also nine - Tambon administrative organizations ( " Tambon Administrative Organizations" - TAO, Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ) in the district.
