Bang Pahan District

Amphoe Bang Pahan ( Thai: อำเภอ บางปะหัน ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the northern part of the province ( Changwat ) Ayutthaya. The Ayutthaya Province located in the central region of Thailand.

Geography

Neighboring districts are (from north clockwise): Amphoe Maha Rat which, Nakhon Luang, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya and Bang Ban Ayutthaya Province and Amphoe Pa Mok Ang Thong province.

History

Refugees Phuan - ethnic group from Vientiane founded in the reign of King Phra Phutthaloetla Naphalai (Rama II ) Here the first settlement. They also built a windmill in their village, so it was named after the Thai word for windmill ( Kanghan, กังหัน ) Bang Kanghan. The name was later because of an error to Pahan.

The county was first established as Nakhon Luang Nai, but was renamed in 1916 to Bang Pahan, the name of the central tambon.

Management

Amphoe Bang Pahan is divided into 17 communes ( tambon).

Bang Pahan itself has a small-town status ( thesaban tambon) and consists of the whole Tambon Mueang Khwan as well as parts of the tambon Bang Pahan and Bang Nang Ra.

There are still ten - Tambon administrative organizations ( " Tambon Administrative Organizations" - TAO, Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ) in the district.
