Bangkok United FC

Bangkok United FC is a professional football club based in the Thai capital Bangkok. Currently the club plays in the Thai Premier League. Play their home games, the club of the Thai-Japanese Stadium.

Club history

The club was founded in 1988 as FC Bangkok University for the students of Bangkok University. At the end of the 2002/03 season, the club went on and ended his first season in the Premier League on a surprising fourth place. After 7th place in the 2004/05 season, the University won their first league title in 2006. The title eligible to participate in the AFC Champions League 2007 However, for the six group games you could pick only 3 points and dropped out early. The Singaporean Football Association invited the club to the 2007 Singapore Cup. Team reached at the end of the third place of the competition.

Prior to the 2009 season, the Thai Association raised the criteria for participation in the league. As a result, the club was refounded as Bangkok United. Active partner and helper in this case was the city of Bangkok, which the objective pursued a representative association for the city in the league to have. President of the Association is Apirak Kosayothin, former governor of the city of Bangkok. In April 2009, the club established its own football school. The most talented player, 18 in number, were allowed to me exercising at Everton. The first season as Bangkok United was anything but satisfactory. At the end of the club narrowly avoided relegation. Compared with the FC Sriracha had the worse goal difference with the same score. Prior to the 2010 season the longtime coach Somchai Subpherm left the club. His successor was Worrakon Vijanarong. Somchai was dismissed at his new club, FC TOT after only a few days. He then returned to Bangkok United. However Worrakon remained head coach of the club. Somchai took on the job of Technical Director.
