Bangladesh national cricket team

The Bangladeshi cricket team is the national cricket represents the Bangladesh at international level. It is since 2000 the tenth, and to date most recent, full member of the International Cricket Council, and consequently has test status.

History

The years as an Associate Member of the ICC

By 1947, Bangladesh part of India and then Pakistan to 1971, so it had at those times as some of these countries test status. After independence, the team had to regroup. In 1977, Bangladesh was given the status as an Associate Member in the International Cricket Council, the second row of teams in cricket. In 1979, the team took part in his first competition, as it failed in the first round at the ICC Trophy and thus could not qualify for the Cricket World Cup 1979. In subsequent years, the focus was on the Asia Cup, where it participated regularly and the opportunity was given to India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka to gain experience. In the further expenditure qualifying for the Cricket World Cup, the team failed, partly because clear. Only in 1982 and 1990 succeeded the team to advance to the semifinals of the tournament, before there resigned in each case against Zimbabwe. In the ICC Trophy 1997 in Malaysia, the team succeeded for the first time the victory and was able to qualify in England in 1999 in order for the Cricket World Cup. There, the team failed to qualify for the second round itself. However, it was a victory against Scotland and Pakistan, the latter was considered a sensation. As a result, the team was awarded in the following year full member status.

First Class

The first test carried the team against India in November 2000 from, but they lost. Ever since Bangladesh has received test status it has only three games to win the test format. One in January 2005 against Zimbabwe and two in July 2009 against the West Indies.

One Day Internationals

After it was allowed in 1998 to align, but not participate due to lack of test status at this time the ICC KnockOut, was the participation at the ICC KnockOut 2000, the first in the second most important tournament in the ODI area. However, it lost in the pre-qualification against England. Also in the following output, the ICC Champions Trophy in 2002 did not succeed in victory. The Cricket World Cup 2003 in South Africa was the next significant setback for the team. There was none of the preliminary matches to decide for themselves, and even lost with Canada and Kenya against teams had the no test status. Also in the group stage you failed in the editions of the ICC Champions Trophy 2004 and 2006.

Things went better in the Cricket World Cup 2007. There, the team retired, however, from the second to last. In the last edition of the Cricket World Cup Bangladesh was the host along with India and Sri Lanka. In the tournament, the team resigned despite a victory against England due to a poorer Net Run rate against the West Indies out in the first round.

A surprise success was the team when discharged in their own country Asia Cup in 2012., Where they were the first to advance to the finals where they narrowly lost by 2 runs against Pakistan.

Twenty20

The first ICC World Twenty20 in 2007 in South Africa through to the second round with a victory achieved against the West Indies. For further editions in 2009, 2010 and 2012 are different from each in the preliminary round.
