Bangsamoro

Bangsamoro ( bangsa of Malay, "nation" and Spanish moros, " Moors " ), German also Moroland, is the name of several Muslim minority groups in the Philippines and for their settlement focus, in imitation of the historical Sultanate of Maguindanao to the center and west of the island of Mindanao and the Sulu archipelago covers. Islamist groups like the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF ) meant by the creation of a Bangsamoro beyond in Mindanao over the previous Muslim district independent Islamic state, which will include other surrounding islands and parts of Borneo.

The term " Bangsamoro " is also adopted in other media, then often as a term for very unstable regions, where it is assumed therefore, that the Philippine central government did not have in them the full authority of the state and the monopoly of power, and to that extent as a synonym for violent and hijack vulnerable areas.

The Spanish, derogatory meant word " Moro " is used in Spain and in the Philippines by Christians as a derogatory term for Muslims. From Muslims to the southern Philippine islands of this name, however, was chosen as the proud own name.

The claimed by the MILF area covers with Mindanao, the Sulu Archipelago, southern Palawan, Basilan and the neighboring islands around one- third of the entire Philippines. The Muslims make up just from about 5 percent of the total population of the island nation (about 93 million ).

The Muslim agitation on the southern Philippine islands is partly the result of the ideology of Islamic expansion, some of the Spanish and American colonization and partly a result of the centrally oriented policy, with the result that the disparity between the Manila and ARMM is very large.

On March 27, 2014, the Philippine President Benigno Aquino and the leader of the MILF, Murad Ebrahim signed a peace treaty with the decades-long struggle for the independence of the region came to an end. It also provides for the establishment of an autonomous region Bangsamoro.
