Banjar, India

The Banjar is the smallest formal social unit of Balinese society. It maintains a particular Bale Banjar, a meeting in which ( etc. sports, dance, gamelan ) held the community meetings and other activities.

Each Banjar is headed by a Klian elected by the General Assembly of the heads of families. The Banjar in Bali a very old device, which probably goes back to prähinduistische times. The villages in Bali usually consist of several Banjars because at a maximum size of about 500 residents is exceeded, a new one will be hived off.
