Bank of America Tower (New York City)

Bank of America Tower is the name of a skyscraper in New York City borough of Manhattan, which was completed in 2009. The tower is named after its owner, Bank of America, who nominated since 2006 the largest U.S. bank. The building is located in midtown, near Times Square to the Avenue of the Americas ( 6th Avenue ) between 42nd and 43rd Street, near Bryant Park. The address of the tower is One Bryant Park.

Architecture and description

The 366 meter-high skyscraper was the second tallest building in New York after the Empire State Building, which is 381 meters high, since the installation of the top 15 December 2007 ( with mast 443 meters). He thus towers above the Chrysler Building and the New York Times Tower with a height of 319 meters each. In the spring of 2013 but was surpassed in New York by the 541 -meter-high One World Trade Center, which since then makes it the third tallest building in the city. He is also currently the fifth tallest building in the United States.

In May 2010, the Bank of America Tower won the highest award for eco-friendly high-rise buildings. Particularly positive overall environmental friendliness, the room quality of jobs, the ventilation and the power consumption and the use of building materials was evaluated.

Inside the tower there is a massive concrete core lines, stairwells and elevators is from shocks or to protect a fire. The structure of floors and the façade was built of steel.
